If you are being charged for an alleged crime in Arlington, Belmont or Cambridge, you will likely be arraigned or summoned to Cambridge District Court.  If you are arrested, you will be arraigned in court where you will be formally charged with the offense.  It is also possible to receive a summons in the mail for a future arraignment court date or, in certain circumstances, a summons notifying you of an upcoming criminal clerk magistrate hearing to determine whether an “Application for Criminal Complaint” will be issued.  Should the complaint issue, the court will then give you a date to return for an arraignment in front of the judge.
